AD.AP.TA.TION

For the first time in human history, more than half of the world’s population live in urban spaces. The spread of urban centers has radically altered the natural environment, replacing vibrant, diverse ecosystems with concrete sterility, and depriving nearly 4 billion people of direct access to wilderness. However, nature will not be shut out, and by both design and destiny, plants are finding their way into these contrived environments, creating new and often unintentional micro ecosystems. Ad.ap.ta.tion is a study of the lives of these pioneer plants and a quest to find beauty and anarchic wildness amidst uniformity.
